Holy Priest Best Corruptions and Corrupted Items — Battle for Azeroth (BfA) 8.3
On this page, you will learn what the best corruptions and the best corrupted items are for a Holy Priest in World of Warcraft — Battle for Azeroth (BfA) 8.3. We also tell you how to handle corruption effects.
Corruption is a new Patch 8.3 feature (see our guide on Corrupted Items). It replaces Warforging and Titanforging for all gear in the patch. It gives items a type of affix, as well as an amount of Corruption. Corruption is a stat that negatively impacts your character the more of it that you have, but the more Corruption you have, the more powerful the affixes will be. Some Affixes are a lot more powerful than others, and you can see a guideline ranking for them below.
What Corruption Powers to Buy For Holy Priests
Echoes of Ny'alotha can now be used to buy specific corruption powers from MOTHER, in the Chamber of the Heart in Silithus.
This allows you to optimize the corruptions on your gear without any RNG involved, as long as you have enough Echoes to buy the corruptions you need.
You can learn all about this new system in our specialized guide for Echoes of Ny'alotha below.
For Holy Priest we recommend different corruptions depending on the content you are playing. Regardless of the content though we suggest running some leech. While there is no specific percentage to aim for, 3-10% leech should be easily obtainable and helps with both your survivability and throughput. If you do not have leech naturally on gear as a tertiary stat, you can apply some to your gear through corruption until you obtain items with leech on them.
General Purpose & Mythic+
For both organised progression raiding and Mythic+ healing we suggest you focus on the secondary stat benefit effects. These are the most reliable boosts to both your healing throughput, and in the case of Mythic+, your DPS output.
Lower ranks of the following can be used to consume leftover corruption capacity and still provide considerable value:
Maximum Potential Raiding HPS
This relies on you regularly using your abilities that have cooldowns such as Circle of Healing, Halo and your two holy words, Holy Word: Serenity and Holy Word: Sanctify. The longer you leave these abilities off cooldown, the less value you will get from your corruptions. This corruption strategy really shines on content you can freely use your major raid cooldowns Divine Hymn and Holy Word: Salvation as often as they will do effective healing. Due to this requirement you may experience varied results in organised content, especially progression raiding where you often use your raid cooldowns when assigned and cannot freely use them throughout the encounter.
Best Corruptions for Holy Priest
Besides Ineffable Truth being a high-ranking outlier, the majority of the remaining corruptions are all reasonably equal in value, making effectively gearing as Holy Priest with corruption a bit easier.
- Ineffable Truth has the most throughput potential, working exceptionally well with our cooldown driven rotational spells and larger raid cooldowns.
- Siphoner provides additional Leech, which is a strong stat that not only keeps yourself alive, but reduces the time healers have to focus on you.
- Honed Mind, Deadly Momentum, Severe, and Void Ritual are a good chunk of additional secondary stats, which is always welcome.

Besides Ineffable Truth, which has 2 differing values depending on the rank, all other corruptions are equal per point of corruption gained, so the rankings stand regardless of the ranks you are assessing.
Tips for Dealing With Corruption Effects
Your Legendary Cloak, Ashjra'kamas, Shroud of Resolve, will have a special on-use effect that clears all Corruption effects from you. This should be used if you get hit by a Thing From Beyond while above 60 Corruption. Otherwise, use it whenever you are in a very sticky situation, such as being slowed inside a voidzone. You should also use it if you are meant to be stacked with your group, and you get an Eye of Corruption on you.
How Much Corruption Should I Run as a Holy Priest
Generally speaking, anything below 40 is considered safe and can be used in all situations. If you are running the Heart of Darkness, take care while remaining under 40 to also try to stay above 25 corruption. If you cannot get above 25 without going over 40, consider changing Heart of Darkness for another trait.
