Windwalker Monk DPS Amirdrassil Raid Guide — Season 4
On this page, you will find tips, tricks, and strategies tailored to your Windwalker Monk for each boss of the following raid: Amirdrassil. All our content is updated for World of Warcraft — Season 4.
Introduction
On this page, you will find Windwalker Monk-specific information to deal with each Boss in the Amirdrassil raid.
This page assumes that you already understand most of the mechanics of each encounter. These can be found on the full raid guide, so what is contained here are details specifically tailored toward Brewmaster Monks and what you can do to deal with each fight as best as possible.
Resetting Encounters with Transcendence
All Monk specializations are capable of resetting most Boss encounters with the use of Transcendence and Transcendence: Transfer. This can be especially useful in a progression environment to save on repair costs and allow players to keep their consumable buffs, such as food from a Hoard of Draconic Delicacies. All you have to do as a Monk is place your Transcendence spirit beyond the area that will normally be closed off after engaging the Boss. Then, if you would like to reset the encounter, get the Boss's attention with Provoke and teleport outside the encounter area with Transcendence: Transfer. If done successfully, the Boss will follow you outside and despawn.
Unless otherwise used during an encounter or mentioned in its tips section, it is highly recommended to get into the habit of setting up this form of fight reset. However, you should never feel forced to do so if there is a point in an encounter that you prefer having access to one of your most powerful mobility tools.
Talent Cheatsheet
The following talent tree is recommended for general use in raid encounters. Be aware that you may switch some points to gain specific utility against certain mechanics, which we will mention on specific bosses where relevant. Remember that you can also easily import the talent tree below into the game with either of the two "Copy Export String" buttons:
Gnarlroot
Talent Adjustments
Gnarlroot is mainly a fight with some adds to blow up, but ultimately a single target fight, so the Faeline Stomp Cleave talent build will get the job done.
Tips
- Take a talent for a second charge of Roll, if required for the intermission.
- Sync cooldowns to have your maximum damage at the 2 minute mark (if possible, use a 2 minute trinket as well).
- Use small adds to funnel onto the big adds on Mythic or onto the Boss on Heroic
- Can pick Yu'lon's Grace over Diffuse Magic depending on your needs and healer's capabilities.
- Line up Strike of the Windlord with add spawns for maximum funnel damage.
For more information, please refer to our Gnarlroot guide.
Igira the Cruel
Talent Adjustments
Igira is also a fight with spears to blow up, but ultimately a single-target fight, so the Faeline Stomp Cleave talent build will get the job done.
Tips
- You can use a talent setup with AOE Touch of Death to get rid of Spears if your group's comp calls for it.
- Funnel onto Spears if required, otherwise funnel on the Boss Boss.
- Line up Strike of the Windlord with spear spawns for funnel damage.
For more information, please refer to our Igira guide.
Volcoross
Talent Adjustments
Volcoross is entirely a single-target fight, so the standard ST build works.
Tips
- This is a very simple fight, no major notes needed.
For more information, please refer to our Volcoross guide.
Council of Dreams
Talent Adjustments
With multiple targets to hit, a lean into the Faeline Stomp Cleave build should work best.
Tips
- Dispel slows with Tiger's Lust and DoTs with Detox as often as possible
For more information, please refer to our Council of Dreams guide.
Larodar, Keeper of the Flame
Talent Adjustments
Larodar is another fight with some adds to blow up, but ultimately a single target fight, so the Faeline Stomp Cleave talent build will get the job done.
Tips
- Line up Strike of the Windlord with adds
- Use Tiger's Lust if needed during Phase 1
- Pick a second Roll or even double Chi Torpedo if you are assigned to clear.
- Use Ring of Peace to ring out adds right before they die in last phase; use Paralysis as well
For more information, please refer to our Larodar guide.
Nymue, Weaver of the Cycle
Talent Adjustments
The single target and cleave builds work fine here; since they are almost identical, you can make small changes if needed.
Tips
- If required, keep cooldowns for Treants.
- Place Transcendence before the pull on the side you are assigned to to avoid the stacks from the lines
For more information, please refer to our Nymue guide.
Smolderon
Talent Adjustments
Smolderon is another single-target fight, so the standard ST build will work.
Tips
- Picking up Diffuse Magic might be smart to have a guaranteed defensive up for brand, else just try to Touch of Karma each one of them
- It may be best to plan out cooldowns for maximum usage:
- 0:00 Serenity and Invoke Xuen, the White Tiger
- 01:30 Serenity
- 03:00 Serenity and Invoke Xuen, the White Tiger
- 04:30 Serenity
- 06:00 Serenity and Invoke Xuen, the White Tiger with delaying Invoke Xuen, the White Tiger for every other damage phase while keeping Serenity for all except the first one
For more information, please refer to our Smolderon guide.
Tindral Sageswift, Seer of the Flame
Talent Adjustments
Thankfully for Windwalker’s strengths, this is another fight with adds to funnel damage into the Boss with. You can use the full Fatal Flying Guillotine/ Touch of Death build if you need to focus on add damage.
Tips
- Delay Strike of the Windlord for the roots, to get as much Thunderfist out on the boss as possible
- AOE Touch of Death could be useful depending on your group's needs.
- Use Tiger's Lust on a player in need ( e.g. rooted inside of a mushroom, etc)
- On the second platform, use your mobility to stomp the flowers. Can put Transcendence onto the Boss to get back ASAP after you are done stomping
For more information, please refer to our Tindral guide.
Fyrakk the Blazing
- This fight can get awkward for cooldown timings depending on your group, so don't be afraid to swap to Storm, Earth, and Fire if you want the flexibility of two charges.
- Leg Sweep, Ring of Peace, and Spear Hand Strike can be very useful to help control the adds.
- Storm, Earth, and Fire also helps to tag targets for Mark of the Crane as they're getting grouped up, allowing you to unload as much AOE as you can once they're grouped.
- Fatal Flying Guillotine can be used if you really need help killing the small adds, but it won't be useful throughout most of the fight.
- Be careful where you Roll when lines or other mechanics are out.
- Transcendence can help you get back to the boss after a mechanic or the knock-ups, just be aware of where you leave it so you don't port into danger.
For more information, please refer to our Fyrakk guide.
