Fury Warrior DPS Guide — Season 4

Fury Warriors have very active, GCD-locked gameplay with a fairly straightforward rotation revolving around generating Rage and spending it on Rampage in order to maintain Enrage. While it has a relatively simple rotation compared to some classes, the associated haste buffs make Fury one of the highest action specializations in the game, proving that gameplay does not necessarily need to be complex in order to be engaging. In addition to a well-rounded offensive toolkit, Fury boasts high mobility, moderate self-healing, and one of the few raid-wide defensive cooldowns in the game.

Strengths

• Fast and engaging playstyle which is also relatively simple, focuses on constant thoroughput damage while also being easy to learn.
• Several high burst multitarget options with very little buildup and without sacrificing single target capability.
• High mobility class due to Charge, Intervene, and Heroic Leap.
• Multiple defensive abilities between Enraged Regeneration, Defensive Stance, Spell Reflection, and Rallying Cry.
• Source of the important attack power buff Battle Shout.

Weaknesses

• Fast rotation can be difficult for some players to keep up with.
• Downtime significantly penalizes damage potential.
• Mediocre to low sustained single target damage output.

Like most classes, the new talent system in Dragonflight has led to a large number of changes and new options allowing players to customize their gameplay. The most notable of this is that there are now two primary builds, each with their own rotation. The Raging Blow build follows similar gameplay to that of Shadowlands, focusing on Raging Blow casts and resets to make up the majority of your global cooldowns. The Annihilator build is a new addition in Dragonflight which builds on the talent Storm of Swords to remove Raging Blow entirely, replacing its place in the rotation with a combination of Bloodthirst, Slam, and Whirlwind, along with a large boost to passive damage and Rage generation. Both are engaging rotations, with the Annihilator build path also featuring strong multitarget synergy, although at the expense of more short rotational cooldowns to manage.

From Patch 9.1.5 onward, both Legion Timewalking and the Mage Tower have returned. As such we have created a separate guide detailing what you can expect from the Mage Tower challenge available to Fury Warriors.

There are no explicit class changes for Arms Warriors in Season 4, however players will revisit their Aberrus tier set bonus from Season 2, which has been buffed.

• Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible (2) Set Bonus: Bonus damage and Critical Strike chance to Rampage increased to 12% (was 10%).
• Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible (4) Set Bonus: Bonus damage increased to 30% (was 25%) and Critical Strike chance increased to 12% (was 10%) to Bloodthirst.

This tier set, combined with the increased availability of very rare cantrip items, pushes Fury into new playstyles for the season. A list of important items available for purchase with the new Antique Bronze Bullion currency can be found within the Gear guide.

Once you reach max level, it can be somewhat overwhelming to completely change the way you play by suddenly implementing a large number of addons in a short space of time, especially if they have a heavy visual impact on your UI. We recommend using some of the more basic addons recommended on our Addons page below while leveling so that you have more time to get used to them during the easier phases of playing your class.

Fury Warriors is a fast-paced spec with little to no downtime, making it very active and engaging. As nearly every active ability generates Rage, the gameplay revolves around using those abilities to build Rage in order to use Rampage, converting that Rage into Enrage, increasing damage done, and triggering a Haste buff, which makes the rotation even faster. To facilitate this, there are a number of additional talented cooldowns and bonuses, such as Odyn's Fury, Unbridled Ferocity, and Ravager.

Due to the increased Rage generation available from talents in the Class and Specialization trees, you should be able to cast Rampage very frequently, resulting in a high Enrage uptime even in low or entry-level gear, though Warriors do not have many ways to recoup damage or Rage lost due to downtime.

Fury has strong multitarget capabilities well suited to Mythic+ dungeons and raid encounters featuring large groups of additional targets, though it falters in single target where it simply does not put out the sustained damage necessary to keep up with other classes. It is also very sensitive to downtime due to having little to no reliable ranged attacks and no way of regenerating resources while unable to hit the target. Defensively, Fury Warriors have moderate self-healing, but feature several defensive abilities on short cooldowns, making them very strong against constant rot damage, but the lack of immunity or cheat death mechanics leaves them vulnerable to high spikes of damage.
